Junior Claudia Ababio finished first in the women's discus and broke the school record with a 55.08m throw at the UVA Quad Meet on April 8. The mark surpassed Chioma Onyekwere's previous school record of 54.43 meters set at last season's Big Ten Championships.
- Junior Emma O'Hara highlighted Maryland's performers on day one of the Larry Ellis Invite on April 21, setting a new school record in the hammer throw. Her mark of 58.32m (191-04) topped Ababio's school record of 188-01 set earlier this season at the UNF Spring Break Invite.
- Sophomore Greg Thompson ranks inside the top-15 nationally in the discus heading into the weekend, as his throw of 58.70 meters at the UNF Spring Break Invite moved him into fourth all-time in school history.
- The Terps have had several standout performers on the track as the squad begins to tune up for Championship season. Lisa Meneau climbed to second all-time in the women's 400 meter hurdles (57.65) at the Florida Relays, while Alexandra Lucki also moved in second in the 1500 with her time (4:18.87) at the event March 30-April 1.
- Senior Micha Powell will again be a Terp to watch at this year's Penn Relays, after competing in the sprint medley relay and 4x200 relay squads for the Terps last year.
AT LAST YEAR'S EVENT
- Kayla Richardson and Claudia Ababio both won their respective field events to highlight Maryland's first day of action at last season's event.
- Richardson smashed her then career-best mark in the long jump with a mark of 5.95 meters (19-6.25) en route to a victory in the event. The Maplewood N.J. native's jump topped a field of over 40 competitors, and was 2.25 inches off the next furthest in the event.
- Ababio notched the second win of the day for the Terps in the hammer throw, setting a new career-best at the time with a toss of 55.11 meters (180-9). The Clarksburg, Md. product made her final throw of the competition count, besting second place by over a meter to sit atop the field of 30.
