PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Maryland track and field squads kicked off action at the 123rd Penn Relays Thursday, with a handful of Terps seeing action throughout the day.
Dallyssa Huggins was the top Terp in the women's 400 meter hurdles in the morning, going 1:01.19 to place 22nd. Teammate Thaila Cooper finished in 1:02.78.
In the women's college long jump, Kayla Richardson posted a mark of 5.97 (19-7) meters to take sixth in the field.
Maryland's distance medley relay squad was eighth in the field, as Squirini, Huggins, Voelpel and Lucki combined to go 11:22.31 for a new school record.
Jewel Smith took second in the women's college long jump with a lifetime best jump of 6.07m (19'11").
Claudia Ababio took second in the shot put in a loaded field, with a throw of 14.70 meters (48-2.75). Ababio threw 51.28m in the hammer throw to take 13th.
Louis Corgliano closed out Thurday's action for the Terps in the evening distance session, finishing the men's 5000 meter run in 15:03.81.
UMD will resume action at the Penn Relays on Friday, which is set to begin at 9:00 am.
