Micaela Abbatine comes to Maryland for her final two seasons of college softball after transferring from North Carolina last year. The outfielder was a three-time New York Class AA All-State selection at Warwick Valley HS, and helped UNC break its single season stolen base record in 2017. Get to know Michaela Abbatine!

How has your first semester at Maryland gone so far?
I absolutely love it here! It already feels like home. Coming to UMD has been an incredible blessing and is all I hoped for AND more.

What attracted you to the University of Maryland?
The opportunity to attend a university with prestigious academics and an outstanding athletic department. I wanted the challenge of being pushed both in the classroom at one of the nation's top universities along with on the field in the B1G. Our coaching staff is incredible. The beautiful campus, awesome colors, and warmer weather compared to NY also helped!

How has it been getting to know your teammates?
My teammates are the best! The returners were incredibly welcoming to us newcomers. We get along so well and you can find us all constantly laughing.

What is your favorite memory from playing softball?
All the time I've spent being coached and trained by my Dad  

What is your favorite thing about yourself?
My discipline and ability to overcome adversity

What is the best vacation you have ever been on?
Dubai with my family a few years ago for Christmas

If you could have an unlimited supply of one thing, what would it be?
Acai bowls

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off?
Shop and get a mani pedi

What hobby would you get into if time and money weren't an issue?
I would travel all over the world
