Panova Releases 2019 Schedule

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Maryland women's head coach Daria Panova announced the 2019 schedule on Wednesday. The slate features six matches against teams who finished in the ITA Top-50 rankings following the 2018 season. It also includes matches against local foes Navy, Georgetown, George Washington and VCU. 

"Our 2018-19 schedule features a strong slate of matches that will test our team every day," Panova said. "We're thrilled to return an experienced roster and we're looking forward to consistently challenging ourselves in pursuit of our goals for the upcoming season. It should be another exciting year in College Park and we're counting down the days until we open the season." 

Maryland will open its season with a trip to Annapolis to battle Navy on Jan. 27. The Terps then turn around and come to College Park for their home opener at the JTCC against Georgetown on Jan. 31, followed by another home bout against George Washington on Feb. 2. 

The Terrapins then hit the road for a four-match road trip, beginning with a match at VCU on Feb. 9. Maryland will then battle Old Dominion on Feb. 15 and Delaware on Feb. 17 before concluding the trip with a stop in the Big Apple to face Columbia on Feb. 23. 

Maryland then opens the month of March with a five-match home stand, beginning with matches against William & Mary and Princeton on Mar. 1 and 2. 

Big Ten play then opens on Mar. 9, with Maryland hosting Rutgers at noon. The Terps then host Wisconsin and Minnesota the following weekend, with matches on Mar. 16 and 17 respectively. 

A brief trip to Florida to battle USF on Mar. 23 will break up conference play before Maryland heads to Northwestern to battle the Wildcats on Mar. 29. 

Maryland then makes a quick stop in College Park to face Illinois on Mar. 31, before going back on the road to play Nebraska on Apr. 5 and Iowa on Apr. 7. 

The Terps wrap up their home schedule against Michigan State on Apr. 12 and Michigan on Apr. 17. Maryland's final weekend of the regular season features a trip to Purdue on Apr. 20 and Indiana on Apr. 21. 

The 2019 Big Ten Tournament will take place at Nebraska one week after the conclusion of the regular season.
