SAN JUAN, P.R. –  The seventh-ranked Maryland women's basketball team is in Puerto Rico this weekend for two games in the Puerto Rico Clasico tournament. The Terrapins (4-0) will play Morgan State (1-4) Friday and No. 24 Georgia (2-2) Saturday.

The Terrapins are coming off of an 85-61 win at No. 10 South Carolina Sunday. Six Terps scored in double figures, led by
Blair Watson with 20 points,
Kaila Charles with 17 and 10 rebounds and
Stephanie Jones with 18 points.
Shakira Austin grabbed 16 rebounds with 10 points and earned her second straight Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor.

The Terrapins fell behind 18-6 5:00 in, then closed the half on a 39-8 run and the Gamecocks never got within single digits.

Charles is one of 35 top players in the country named to the "Wade Watch" list of candidates for the 2019 Wade Trophy presented to the best player in college women's basketball, the Women's Basketball Coaches Association announced Tuesday.

Charles is leading the Terrapins in scoring with 15.5 points per game and is also chipping in 7.8 boards per game.

In Sunday's win over No. 10 South Carolina, Charles became the 33
rd Terrapin to reach the 1,000 career points mark and also hit 500 career rebounds in her 73
rd career game.

Sunday's victory was the Terps' 23
rd over a top 10 opponent in head coach
Brenda Frese's 17 years at Maryland. Frese also picked up career win 490 and now owns a career head coaching record of 490-149 (.767).
Maryland is 7-0 vs. Morgan State and this is the two teams' first matchup since 2001. This is the Terps' first game vs. Georgia since 1990.
Maryland is ranked No. 7 Associated Press poll and No. 10 in the USA Today Division I Top 25 Coaches Preseason Poll.

After the Terps' two games in Puerto Rico, they return home to host Georgia Tech (3-1) Thursday at the XFINITY Center in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
