Kiana Carr comes to Maryland after a two-year stint at Phoenix Community College in Phoenix, Arizona where she went 37-2 from the circle in 267.4 innings for the Bears. Karr was a workhorse for Phoenix College this past year, leading the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference (ACCAC) in strikeouts (246) and wins (32) while ranking second in earned run average (2.08). She was named the ACCAC Pitcher of the Year and a First-Team All-Conference selection, while helping the Bears to a 2018 Region I Championship and ACCAC Title. Get to know Kiana Carr! Â
How has your first semester at Maryland gone so far?
My first semester went really well, it was an easy transition and lots of fun.
What attracted you to the University of Maryland?
The University of Maryland was appealing to me because of the culture and spirit. I love how students and staff wear the flag and go all out in Maryland colors.
How has it been getting to know your teammates?
It has been amazing; my teammates are fun and outgoing. They all make softball fun all while working hard and creating a family atmosphere.
What is your favorite memory from playing softball?
My favorite softball memory was when I struck a batter out that lead my team and I to the NJCAA championship tournament.
What is your favorite thing about yourself?
My favorite thing about myself is my honesty, integrity, and making people feel comfortable around me.
What is the best vacation you have ever been on?
When I went to Disney World with my mom when I was younger because my sister stayed home so I got to go on a lot of rides and got a lot of one-on-one time with my mom.
If you could have an unlimited supply of one thing, what would it be?
Shoes.
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off?
Sleep and shop.
What hobby would you get into if time and money weren't an issue?
Flipping houses.
