
Terps Set to Conclude Non-Conference Slate

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The Maryland women's tennis team (4-5, 0-0 B1G) will wrap up its non-conference schedule this weekend with a pair of matches against West Virginia on Saturday and Marshall on Sunday. The matches will take place at the Junior Tennis Champions Center in College Park.
Both matches are scheduled to begin at noon and will be live streamed on the JTCC website via the Playsight technology. Live stats feeds will also be provided here.
LAST TIME OUT
Maryland split its weekend series against a pair of Ivy League foes, losing at No. 26 Princeton before defeating Columbia.
After dropping their match to the Tigers, Maryland respodned with a 4-3 victory over the Lions. The Terps won the doubles point behind wins from its top two doubles pairs, and then closed out the match with singles victories by Eva Alexandrova, Millie Stretton and Katsiaryna Yemelyanenka.
SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS
West Virginia enters the weekend with a 4-4 record on the spring season. The Mountaineers last outing resulted in a 4-0 loss to No. 35 Old Dominion.
This will be WVU's second road match of the season, with their only other road match resulting in a 5-2 win over Akron.
Senior Lyn Yuen Choo and freshman Giovanna Caputo are tied for the team lead in singles wins with five victories each.
SCOUTING THE HERD
Marshall comes to College Park with a 1-12 record on the season, including an 0-3 record in conference play. The Herd went 1-2 during a three-match homestand last weekend, picking up a win over Cincinnati in the weekend opener.
DOUBLES DOMINANCE
Maryland has dominated in doubles action this spring, winning the doubles point in six of their first nine matches this season. The Terps top doubles pairing of Eva Alexandrova and Millie Stretton have had a solid start to the year, posting a 5-2 record in the No. 1 doubles position.
Katsiaryna Yemelyanenka and Ekaterina Tour also have a winning record in doubles play, owning a 4-3 mark in the second doubles spot.
NO STOPPING STRETTON
Kansas State transfer Millie Stretton has impressed in the early stages of Maryland's spring season.
The junior owns a 5-1 singles record to go along with a 5-2 doubles line while playing with partner Eva Alexandrova in the top spot of Maryland's lineup.
FRESHMAN FEATURE
Eva Alexandrova has led Maryland's freshman class this spring, earning a 5-2 record between the number one and two spots in Maryland's singles lineup.
The Russia native also has a 5-2 doubles record while playing in the number one spot with teammate Millie Stretton.
HOME COURT ADVANTAGE
Maryland has found success on its home court this season, winners of three of their first four home matches this season.
The Terps have won 12 of their last 15 home matches dating back to last season.
SUPER PANOVA
After guiding Maryland to its best season in program history, head coach Daria Panova was named the 2017 Wilson/ITA Atlantic Region Coach of the Year.
She coached Maryland's doubles duo of Kristina Hovsepyan and Alexandra Stanova to the ITA National Indoor Tournament after the two were victorious at ITA Atlantic Regionals.
Panova earned her 50th career victory at Maryland last season after the Terrapins topped MInnesota.
INTERNATIONAL FLAVOR
Maryland's 2018 roster features student-athletes from six countries outside of the United States.
The Terps currently have representatives from Belarus, Israel, Japan, Russia, Ukraine and the United Kingdom.
NEXT UP
Maryland will open up its Big Ten schedule with a pair of matches against Minnesota and Wisconsin. The Terps will battle the Gophers on Mar. 16 before heading to Madison, Wisconsin, to face the Badgers on Mar. 18.
