ROSEMONT, Ill. -- Freshman Eva Alexandrova of the Maryland women's tennis team earned 2018 All-Big Ten honors, the conference announced Thursday.
Alexandrova becomes the second Terrapin in program history to win the award since Maryland joined the Big Ten conference, joining Alexandra Stanova who earned the honor in 2017. She is also the first freshman to win All-Conference plaudits since Stanova was All-ACC Third Team in her freshman season.
The conference also announced that junior Millie Stretton was Maryland's sportmanship award recipient.
Alexandrova was a fixture in Maryland's lineup this season, playing at the top of Maryland's singles and doubles rotation. The Moscow, Russia, native posted 11 singles wins on the year while playing in the top two spots of Maryland's singles lineup. She also tallied 16 doubles wins while playing first doubles with Stretton. The duo lost just twice during the season and ended the year with a win over fourth-ranked Larner and Lipp of Northwestern.
Stretton's junior campaign featured 16 wins on both the singles and doubles courts. The Edinburgh, United Kingdom, native played in the top doubles spot with Alexandrova, while also playing third singles.
