Maryland Welcomes Ohio State Saturday

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – No. 4/4 Maryland (12-1, 1-1 B1G) will host Ohio State (4-7, 0-2) Saturday at 4 p.m. at the XFINITY Center.

Saturday's matchup is the 13th all-time between Maryland and Ohio State. The series is currently tied at 6, with the teams splitting last year's meetings. The Terrapins won 99-69 in College Park on Jan. 22 and the Buckeyes won 79-69 in the Big Ten championship game on March 4.
 
The Terps fell to Rutgers, 73-65, Monday afternoon in College Park. Freshman Taylor Mikesell scored 18 points for Maryland and junior Kaila Charles added 15, including 10 in the second half, but the Terps fell just short of the Scarlet Knights.
 
Charles was named to the Big Ten Player of the Week Honor Roll Monday for her 23-point performance in the Terps' win at Penn State Dec. 28.
 
Maryland is No. 5 in the country in rebounding margin (+14.9) and in rebounds with 47.2 per game. The Terps are No. 7 in the nation in defensive rebounds per game (32.0) and in blocks per game (5.9). Freshman Shakira Austin is No. 3 in the country in total blocks (39). She is No. 10 nationally in total rebounds (149). Mikesell leads the league with 41 threes made so far.
 
Maryland is ranked No. 4 in both the Associated Press poll and the USA Today Division I Top 25 Coaches Poll.
 
Head coach Brenda Frese is in her 17th season as the head coach of the Terrapins. She's led them to a record of 441-120 (.786). She is two wins from 500 in her 20-year head coaching career with a record of 498-150 (.769). Frese has led the Terrapins to 14 NCAA Tournaments in her 16 post seasons, three Final Fours, six Elite Eights, eight Sweet Sixteens and nine conference titles.
 
After Saturday's contest, the Terrapins will travel to Lincoln to take on Nebraska (7-6, 2-0) Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET. The Terps-Huskers game will be streamed online through BTN Plus and can be seen on the BTN2Go app and BTN2Go.com.
