Volleyball Hosts #5 Nebraska Saturday Night

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The University of Maryland volleyball team hosts #5 Nebraska in the XFINITY Center Pavilion Saturday night at 8 p.m. Due to the football game on campus Saturday at 3:30 p.m., fans should expect heavier traffic than usual. Parking near the XFINITY Center will be restricted to football permit access only until the conclusion of the first quarter of the Maryland football game.
  • A bevy of Terps set career- and season-highs in Maryland's thrilling come-from-behind five-set win over Indiana on Wednesday night. Allegra Rivas posted 32 digs, tying her career-best while also setting the highest mark for a Big Ten player on the season. She didn't have a single reception error on the night, limiting the Hoosiers to .105 hitting, while also contributing six assists. Katie Myers was also spectacular, notching a career-high 21 kills on the night, the second-highest kill total by a middle blocker in the Big Ten this season, while adding seven blocks and two aces on the night. Jada Gardner tallied her highest kill total of the season with 13, and Nicole Alford led the team with 30 assists, the most assists by any Maryland player all season.
  • The Terps have won three of its last four Big Ten matches, including a five-set win at home vs. Michigan State (25-22, 21-25, 14-25, 25-19, 15-12), a five-set heartbreaker at #8 Penn State (25-18, 20-25, 19-25, 25-14, 6-15), a four-set win over Rutgers after dropping the first set (23-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-11), and Wednesday's reverse sweep vs. Indiana (25-27, 23-25, 25-22, 25-20, 15-12).
  • Maryland ranks first in the Big Ten and seventh nationally in service aces with 136; also third in the Big Ten and 29th nationally in aces/set (1.68s), while Samantha Snyder and Katie Myers share first in the conference in total aces with 32 apiece (0.40/s).
  • Maryland ranks first in the Big Ten and third nationally in total blocks with 207, while Katie Myers leads the conference and ranks second in the NCAA with 113 blocks on the season. Myers also ranks first in the conference and 16th nationally with 1.40 blocks/set. Her 10 blocks in Maryland's three-set win vs. Kennesaw State was the most blocks by a single Maryland player in a three-set match since Ashlyn MacGregor had 14 vs. Sacred Heart on August 27, 2017. Rainelle Jones' 78 total blocks on the season ranks third in the conference.
  • Myers is also hitting at over a .400 clip on the season (.416), good for third-highest in the Big Ten and inside the top-20 nationally (19th).
  • Junior outside hitter Erika Pritchard ranks second in the Big Ten with 270 total kills on the season.
  • Freshman outside hitter Rebekah Rath has made an immediate impact since stepping foot on campus, starting in 13 matches this season while ranking second on the team in kills with 189 (2.33/set), and fourth in aces with 19 (0.23/set)
  • The University of Maryland volleyball program reached its 1000th career win in Maryland's sweep of Appalachian State, while junior outside hitter Erika Pritchard tallied her 1000th career kill in the previous win over Kennesaw State. Pritchard now ranks 12th all time in career kills at Maryland
