Terps Compete at Penn State National Invite

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — The Maryland Cross Country team competed at the Penn State National Invite today, the last meet before the Terps enter championship season.
In preparation for the 2019 Cross Country BIG Ten Championships on Nov. 3, senior Brittany Lang (21:09.2) was the first Terp to cross the finish line, placing 15th overall. Teammate Kathryn Gearhart followed close behind, finishing the race 25th in 21:23.7.
Junior Christine Laurie (21:40.3) ran strong throughout the race, placing 38th overall and was in the third scoring position for the team.
Rounding out the top five finishers for the Terps, freshman Anna Coffin (22:11.7) set a personal best in the 6K and Samantha Facius (22:47.2) continued her strong freshman debut after competing in their second 6K run of the season.
Mackenzie Morgan posted her season best in a very strong race. Anna Latzko also had a strong race, marking this as her first competition of the season.
Sarah Daniels, Caroline Augelli, Julia Reicin and Claudia Dolan rounded out the race, allowing Maryland to place 8th of 16 teams. Reicin and Dolan took a fall early in the race but got back up to finish.
Next up for the Terps is the 2019 BIG Ten Cross Country Championships in Columbus, Oh.
