THIS WEEKEND'S STORYLINES

1. Maryland RBs Javon Leake and Anthony McFarland Jr. both have seven rushing touchdowns this season, good for the 20th highest total in the country and makes the Terps one of only two teams in the country (Central Michigan) and the only power five team to have two running backs with seven TDs this season. It is the first time the Terps have had a RB pair both have seven touchdowns in a season since Keon Lattimore had 13 and Lance Ball had 12 in 2007.

2. Against Rutgers, RB Javon Leake returned the opening kickoff of the second half 100 yards for his second career kick return touchdown, marking the first time any Big Ten team has returned a kick to the house this season. With a WR DJ Turner punt return touchdown in Week One vs. Howard, Maryland is one of only eight FBS teams with both a kick return and punt return touchdown this season, joining Appalachian State, Houston, Memphis, North Texas, Southern Miss, UCLA and Utah State. Maryland leads the Big Ten in punt return average (15.14) and is fourth in kick return average (22.42).

3. Maryland has forced a turnover in 19 straight contests, the second-longest streak in the FBS, trailing only Syracuse (21). The Terps, who have notched a takeaway in every game over the pastt two seasons continued the streak last week vs. Indiana when S Antoine Brooks Jr. picked off a tipped Hoosier pass in the end zone The Terps have forced 11 turnovers and only lost nine, a plus-two margin this season, recording six interceptions and five fumbles. Maryland won the turnover battle in four of the first seven games.

4. The Terps have been explosive on offense this season, tallying 11 rushes of over 30 yards, tied for the fifth highest total in the country and second most in the Big Ten. In addition, five of those 11 explosive plays have gone for 50-plus yards, the second most in the nation, trailing only Ohio State. Maryland has scored on five of these big play rushes, three from RB Javon Leake (64 vs. Syracuse, 42 at Rutgers & 60 vs. Indiana), one from RB Anthony McFarland Jr. (80 at Rutgers ) and one from QB Tyrrell Pigrome (61 at Purdue).

5. Senior S Antoine Brooks Jr. has totaled 42 solo tackles this year, the most per game in the Big Ten and the 12th highest total in the country. Brooks has led Maryland in tackles in three of the seven games and tallied a career-best 13, all solo, at Temple (9/14). Last week vs. Indiana, Brooks recorded his first interception, picking off a tipped pass in the end zone.

6. Maryland has 249 points through seven games, the second-highest total over the first seven games of a season in program history, trailing only the 2001 season. The Terps 35.6 points per game is the 28th highest in the country and fifth-most in the Big Ten.
