Terps Welcome #8 Penn State Saturday

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The University of Maryland volleyball team hosts #8 Penn State on the XFINITY Center Main Floor Saturday night at 7 p.m. Parking at the XFINITY Center is free. Fans are encouraged to park in Lot 4B or Lot 9B and required to enter the building through Gate A or Gate B.
PACKED THE PAV
Maryland set a new XFINITY Center Pavilion last week when 2,225 fans attended Maryland's three-set loss to then-No. 5 Nebraska, breaking the previous record of 1,848 set against Wisconsin on November 17, 2018. In the last three seasons, the Terps have set seven of the top-10 attendance records in program history.

LUCKY NUMBER 1,000
The University of Maryland volleyball program reached its 1000th career win in Maryland's sweep of Appalachian State, while junior outside hitter Erika Pritchard tallied her 1000th career kill in the previous win over Kennesaw State. Pritchard now ranks 12th all-time in career kills at Maryland

ACES WILD
Maryland ranks first in the Big Ten and 16th nationally in service aces with 142; also third in the Big Ten in aces/set (1.60s), while Katie Myers (34) ranks first and Sam Snyder (32) ranks second in the conference in total aces, respectively.

BLOCK PARTY
Maryland ranks first in the Big Ten and third nationally in total blocks with 224, while Katie Myers leads the conference and ranks third in the NCAA with 124 blocks on the season. Myers also ranks first in the conference and 16th nationally with 1.39 blocks/set. Her 10 blocks in Maryland's three-set win vs. Kennesaw State was the most blocks by a single Maryland player in a three-set match since Ashlyn McGregor had 14 vs. Sacred Heart on August 27, 2017

MYERS = FIRE
Myers is also hitting at over a .400 clip on the season (.428), good for second-highest in the Big Ten and inside the top-10 nationally (9th).

KILLIN' IT
Junior outside hitter Erika Pritchard ranks third in the Big Ten with 298 total kills on the season. She also ranks ninth in the conference with 3.35 kills/set

THE MATCHUPS
#8 Penn State currently stands 15-3 and 8-1 in the conference, currently the second-ranked team in the Big Ten. Penn State has won 26 of the career 32 meetings with Maryland, its last coming win two weeks ago in Rec Hall as the Nittany Lions took down the Terps, 3-2.

FRESHMAN IMPACT
Maryland has gotten a lot of contributions from its freshmen early this season. Freshman outside hitter Rebekah Rath has made an immediate impact since stepping foot on campus, starting in 13 matches this season while ranking third on the team in kills with 194 (2.18/set), and fourth in aces with 19 (0.21/set). Rath is younger than most college freshmen, reclassifying her high school graduation class and joining the Terps a year earlier than expected.

Defensive specialist Lexy Finnerty has also gotten a good amount of time on the floor in the DS rotation. Finnerty has appeared in 11 matches (26 sets), recording 17 digs (0.65/s) on the season.

Middle blocker Cara Lewis joins the Terps after playing her high school career at nearby Bowie HS. Lewis has appeared in six matches this season (six sets) and has recorded five kills and five blocks so far through her freshman campaign.

SMASHING RECORDS VS. INDIANA
A bevy of Terps set career- and season-highs in Maryland's thrilling come-from-behind five-set win over Indiana last Wednesday. Allegra Rivas posted 32 digs, tying her career-best while also setting the highest mark for a Big Ten player on the season. She didn't have a single reception error on the night, limiting the Hoosiers to .105 hitting, while also contributing six assists. Katie Myers was also spectacular, notching a career-high 21 kills on the night, the second-highest kill total by a middle blocker in the Big Ten this season, while adding seven blocks and two aces on the night. Jada Gardner tallied her highest kill total of the season with 13, and Nicole Alford led the team with 30 assists, the most assists by any Maryland player all season.
