
Terps Finish Up Day Two at Blue and Gold Classic

Annapolis, Md. – The Maryland women's tennis team finished Saturday play at the Blue and Gold Classic today, notching a few victories into their belt.
In the "B" Belief singles flight, freshman Chloe Hamlin started the day off with a quarterfinals victory against Mary Washington's Rachel Summers 6-3, 1-6, 10-7. Hamlin then pushed through to the semifinals but fell to Elena De Santis of Georgetown 6-0, 6-3.
Junior Zoe Kulkarni planned to continue her singles play in the "A" Adaptability flight against Sofie Moenster of Georgetown, but found herself competing for the consolation final due to her opponents' injuries. Kulkarni will face Kaylah Hodge of Navy on Sunday.
Freshman Joy Callwood continued singles play for Maryland, competing against Ashley Fitz-Patrick of George Mason, giving her best but was unsuccessful, falling 6-1, 6-2. Callwood then bounced back in the quarterfinals, dominating Georgetown's Brooke Murphy 8-0. Pushing through to the semifinals, Callwood met her match against Tina Li of Navy, falling 9-8(3). The Terp finished the day for Maryland taking home third place in the consolation bracket of the "Determination" singles flight.
The Terps will continue play on the final day of competition in the Blue and Gold Classic on Sunday.
