
Maryland Tennis Releases 2020 Spring Schedule

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Maryland women's head coach Katie Dougherty announced the 2020 schedule on Thursday. The schedule will feature match-ups against some of the nation's best, including four teams finishing in the ITA Top 50 rankings following the 2019 season. All home matches will take place at the Junior Tennis Champions Center in College Park and will include non-conference meetings with local foes Howard, George Washington, Georgetown and VCU.
Maryland will open the 2019-20 season with its home opener against Georgetown (12 p.m.) on Jan. 18 at the JTCC. The Terps will continue with four consecutive home matches, including play against Southern Utah (12 p.m.) on Jan. 24, followed by a pair of matches on Jan. 25 against Towson (11 a.m.) and Coppin State (3:30 p.m.).
Maryland will open the month of February with a noon match against Columbia (12 p.m.) on Feb. 1, before taking on defending Atlantic 10 champions VCU (12 p.m.) on Feb. 2.
The Terrapins will then hit the road to compete in Eugene, Ore., on Feb. 8, against Idaho then with host Oregon the next day. Maryland will open up Big Ten play at Rutgers on Feb. 14 at 12:30 p.m., before going back out of conference to play defending CAA champions James Madison (11 a.m.) and Mary Washington (4 p.m.) at the JTCC.
The month of March will be packed full of matches, including six contests taking place at home. The Terps will start the month hosting Howard (12 p.m.) on March 7, William and Mary (12 p.m.) on March 8 and George Washington (12 p.m.) on March 14.
Maryland will then make a quick trip to Madison to face Wisconsin on March 20. A three-match home stand will conclude the month, all against Big Ten opponents. The Terrapins will face Minnesota (12 p.m.) on March 22, Purdue (3 p.m.) on March 27, and conclude with play against Indiana (11 a.m.) on March 29.
April will include the final two home matches, first against Nebraska (10:30 a.m.) on Apr. 4, followed by Iowa (11 a.m.) on Apr. 5. Maryland will then finish the season on the road, beginning at Illinois on Apr. 11 followed by a stop at Northwestern on Apr. 12. The final week of play for the Terrapins will start in Columbus against Ohio State on April 17, and conclude at Penn State on Apr. 19.
The 2020 Big Ten Tournament will take place at Purdue Apr. 23-26.
