NEW ORLEANS – The Maryland women's cross country team was named one of the 2018 Division I Scholar Teams of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for going above and beyond both in the classroom and on the circuit.
Qualifications for the honor included a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher and the squad competing at the regional level of the NCAA Championship. The Terps posted a cumulative team grade point average of 3.22, exceeding the 3.0 GPA qualification for the honor.
Maryland was one of 427 teams to receive the All-Academic Team distinction. It is the ninth consecutive year the Terps have been awarded the academic accolades by the USTFCCCA.
