MELBOURNE, Fla. –The Maryland women's golf team finished fifth out of 16 teams competing Tuesday in the Moon Golf Invitational at Duran Golf Club in Melbourne, Fla.
Sophomore
Virunpat Olankitkunchai led the Terps with a final score of 211 (71-73-67) five strokes under. She finished tied for 5th place out of 90 participants for her fourth top-six finish this year under head coach
Diana Cantu's leadership.

Diana Cantu said. "She continues to be consistent on the course. Her short game was strong this week, which helped her save shots from around the greens. I'm very proud of her fight and continued development of her golf game."
Just three strokes behind her was sophomore
Laura Van Respaille with a score of 214 (70-75-69), which was two strokes under. She finished 17th overall.
"Laura's 3 under par today was a long time coming for her," Cantu said. "She has been playing very steady the last month and her dedication showed with her score today. She was very helpful to our successful round today."
Senior
Ludovica Scandroglio finished with a 219 (73-74-72), which was three strokes over. Close behind her was, senior
Ludovica Farina with a score of 222 (73-75-74).
Sophomore
Charlotte Lafourcade finished with a 225 (70-74-81). Competing as an individual, junior
Xiaolin Tian finished two strokes behind her with a 227 (75-74-78).
As a team, the Terrapins finished with a final score of 862 (284-296-282), which was two strokes under par total.
"As a team, we came together and shot our lowest two rounds of the season," Cantu said. "Our players are strong and they showed grit on the course this week. We continue to improve and are moving in the right direction. We are looking forward to a couple of weeks in town to prepare for our next tournament."
Maryland finished ahead of No. 32 Kennesaw State, No. 42 Old Dominion, No. 50 Augusta and No. 57 Michigan.
The Terps are currently ranked among the best 50 teams in the nation at 49, according to Golfweek and Golfstat. This is the third time in program history, and second time this season.
Next, the Terps will compete at the Tar Heel Classic in the Dominican Republic March 15-16.
