
Four Terps to Attend US National Team Tryouts

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Four members of the Maryland volleyball team: Katie Myers, Erika Pritchard, Allegra Rivas and Emma Schriner will participate in the annual U.S. Women's National Team Tryouts this weekend, March 1-3, at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.
This year's tryout will feature 215 athletes from 88 colleges competing for spots on the U.S. National Team and with the U.S. Collegiate National team program. The tryout will involve four sessions with three waves per session. Friday's first session goes from 2-8 p.m. MT, while Saturday's sessions are at 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. The final session on Sunday begins at 7:30 a.m. MT with tournament style play, along with 16-18 athletes selected by the U.S. Women's National Team staff to participate in a "USA" training session. The Sunday session wraps up at 10:30 a.m. MT.
Myers, a rising redshirt sophomore led Maryland in 2018 with 53 aces and 122 blocks while ranking third on team with 210 kills. Myers ranked first in the Big Ten and 14th in the country with her 53 aces, which were also the most by a Terp since 2003.
Pritchard, a rising junior, had a fantastic sophomore campaign in 2018, earning First Team All-Big Ten and All-Region honors after leading the conference with 4.32 kills/set. Her 493 kills are the second most in a single-season in Maryland history. Pritchard also totaled 552.5 points, the second most in the Big Ten, had double-digit kills in 27 of 32 matches, had over 20 kills in seven matches, posted 14 double-doubles (kills and digs). In addition to her 493 kills, the sophomore totaled 287 digs, 65 blocks, 22 aces and 18 assists.
Rivas, a rising sophomore, stood out in her freshman campaign as Maryland's libero, earning Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors three times, the most times by any Big Ten player this season, and the most times winning the Big Ten DPOW in a single season by any freshman since 2011. The Aledo, Texas native ranked fourth in the Big Ten with 4.58 digs per set. Her 522 digs were the fifth most ever in a single season by a Maryland libero and the most by a freshman.
Schriner, a rising sophomore, started for Maryland all throughout Big Ten play on the outside, totaling 102 kills, 53 blocks and 19 digs in her freshman campaign.
