COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Maryland gymnastics team posted a season high 196.525 Sunday afternoon earning wins over Penn (195.075), Southern Connecticut (192.700) and Brown (191.450).
The Terrapins earned 49.200 team score on beam, their best score in the event since 2004. Three gymnasts earned career highs in the event, sophomore
Sabriyya Rouse (9.875),
Audrey Barber (9.900) and
Emilie LeBlanc (9.900).
"It was incredible, and I was really proud of the team," said head coach
Brett Nelligan. "What a way to send off our seniors, you couldn't have asked for a better night."
The Terps earned higher than a 49.025 on each rotation and earned season bests on vault (49.125) and floor (49.175) in addition to breaking their beam score record.
All-Arounder
Audrey Barber also earned a season-high 39.425 to take home the title.
Junior
Alecia Farina set a season best on vault with a 9.875 to lead all gymnasts.
Barber and LeBlanc tied for first place on both beam (9.900) and bars (9.825).
Rouse and Barber tied for the title on floor (9.875).
All four of Maryland's seniors competed on Senior Sunday in their final home performance.
Shynelle Agaran earned a 9.650 on bars and 9.550 on beam.
Deanna Magro posted a 9.750 on vault.
Megan McClelland earned a season-best 9.800 on floor followed by
Alex Robinson who earned a 9.825 to close off the meet.
"Every one of them stepped up. When it senior night there's always magic in the air and I'm glad they came out and had a story book ending to their career," said Nelligan.
Maryland finishes off the double weekend with their two highest scores of the season. They will travel to Towson next Sunday.
