COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- After picking up a win in its conference opener last week, the Maryland women's tennis team will continue its conference slate this weekend, hosting Wisconsin and Minnesota at the JTCC on Saturday, Mar. 16 and Sunday Mar. 17. Both matches will begin at noon.
Maryland won with ease over Rutgers in its Big Ten opener, winning 6-1 to stay undefeated against the Scarlet Knights since the two teams joined the Big Ten. Maryland captured the doubles point and never looked back, winning five-of-six singles contests en route to its third victory of the season.
Sophomore Zoe Kulkarni and senior Millie Stretton each earned their team-best fifth singles win of the year in the outing. Stretton and doubles partner Eva Alexandrova also tallied their fourth doubles win of the season, good for most on Maryland's roster.

The Terrapins and Gophers split a pair of meetings last season, with Minnesota taking the regular season contest, 6-1, before Maryland bested them, 4-2, in the first round of the conference tournament.
Minnesota will be led by Bita Mancera, who has an impressive 10-2 record in dual matches while playing at the third singles position. Tiffany Huber has also been solid for the Gophers, winning seven matches at second singles.
Senior Millie Stretton has been strong in her final collegiate campaign, leading Maryland's roster in both doubles and singles wins. The Edinburgh, United Kingdom native has five doubles and five singles wins -- playing at the top spot of Maryland's doubles lineup and the second slot in Maryland's singles lineup.
