Softball Hosts Series Against Ohio State

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Maryland will continue its conference schedule tonight at 6 p.m. when the Terps host Ohio State for a three-game series and the second conference series of the season.

LAST TIME OUT
  • Maryland went 0-3 last weekend vs. No. 20 Minnesota, starting the nonconference season in College Park for the second consecutive week at home. Maryland's first week at home, the Terps hosted the Maryland Invitational and went 4-0, its first undefeated tournament performance of four or more games since 2012 when they went 5-0 also at the Maryland Invitational.
  • Senior pitcher Sydney Golden hung tough with the nationally ranked Gophers, pitching 12.1 innings with a 3.97 ERA, holding Minnesota to 21 hits and seven earned runs, while striking out eight batters.
  • Freshman catcher Gracie Voulgaris paced the Terps in the batter's box, notching a team-high 5 hits and .500 avg., one double and a triple. Bailey Boyd also hit at a .500 mark with four hits and one double on the weekend.
  • Anna Kufta hit her team-leading fourth home run of the season on Saturday against Minnesota.
KEEPING TRACK OF THE TERPS
  • Anna Kufta notched her 100th career hit in last weekend's series vs. Minnesota with a triple against junior ace Amber Fiser.
  • Senior pitcher Sydney Golden and junior outfielder Amanda Brashear reached big career milestones at the Carolina Classic in Chapel Hill, N.C. Golden notched her 200th career strikeout and Brashear got her 100th career hit, both coming in Saturday's matchup vs. old ACC rival North Carolina.
  • Bailey Boyd reached 50 career hits and 50 career runs at the Amy S. Harrison Classic, where she went 9-16 (.563), scoring five runs and batting in three more.
  • Anna Kufta notched her 75th career hit, her 50th career RBI, and her 10th career home run Feb. 8-10 at the Trojan Classic in Troy, Ala.
  • As a team, Maryland ranks third in batting average (.305) and third in hits (255) in the Big Ten.
  • Bailey Boyd ranks 12th in the Big Ten in hits (35) and 15th in batting average (.368)
  • Anna Kufta holds the highest mark in the conference and leads the team in RBI (35). Kufta has already surpassed her 2018 season total (23) and her freshman year total of 27. Her current mark of 35 also ranks 24th nationally.
  • Freshman catcher Gracie Voulgaris has caught eight runners stealing this season, currently the third-best mark in the Big Ten.
