Terps Wrap Up Home Slate with MSU, Michigan

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The Maryland women's tennis team will close out its home schedule this weekend, hosting Michigan State on Friday before welcoming Michigan to town for a Sunday morning showdown. The match against Michigan State will begin at 2 p.m., with Sunday's match against Michigan starting at 11 a.m. Sunday's match will also be Senior Day, where Maryland will honor seniors Arnelle Sullivan and Millie Stretton following the completion of the match.
Nicole Stephens leads Michigan State in singles wins through dual competition this season, posting 13 wins between the fourth, fifth and sixth positions. Samantha Memije and Maja Pietrowicz round out the trio of Spartans with at least 10 dual singles victories this season.
14th-ranked Michigan enters its final three-match stretch of the regular season with an overall record of 13-4, which includes a perfect 9-0 mark in conference play. The Wolverines will play a nonconference match at Florida on Thursday before coming north to play Rutgers on Saturday and Maryland on Sunday. Michigan has won its last eight matches, with its last loss coming on Mar. 13 against Virginia.
Kate Fahey is leading the way for Michigan this season, currently ranked third in the country. The Wolverines have three other ranked singles players: Chiara Lommer (44th), Brienne Minor (45th) and Giulia Pairone (75th). Fahey and Minor are also ranked in doubles, entering the weekend 25th in the country.
Senior Millie Stretton has impressed during her final collegiate campaign, boasting a team best six singles wins through dual competition while playing between the top two slots of Maryland's singles lineup.
Stretton also has the most conference wins on the team, picking up a pair of wins in contests against Rutgers and Iowa. Alongside doubles partner Eva Alexandrova, Stretton also has tallied six wins at the top doubles spot.
All eight players on Maryland's roster have at least one season of collegiate tennis under their belt. The roster also includes seven returners from the 2018 squad, with the lone addition being Kansas transfer Amber Policare.
The Terps will be guided by a pair of seniors: Arnelle Sullivan and Millie Stretton. Sullivan is entering her fourth season in College Park, while Stretton will compete in her second season as a Terrapin after transferring from Kansas State.
The Terps were successful in the classroom last season, with three current members of the squad earning 2018 ITA All-American honors.
Eva Alexandrova, Millie Stretton and Saya Usui represented the Terrapins on the list, which includes student-athletes who are varsity letter-winners and have a GPA of at least 3.5.
