Dukes Top Terps Tuesday Afternoon

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – James Madison (21-17) defeated the Maryland baseball team (18-18), 4-1, at Bob "Turtle" Smith Stadium Tuesday afternoon at Bob "Turtle" Smith Stadium.

What to Know

  • James Madison jumped all over Maryland starter RHP Sean Heine in the first, scoring five runs before the Terps took a swing. The Dukes' staff shut down the Terps over the nine frames and scored a run in the second, three in the sixth and five in the seventh.
  • Maryland grabbed a run in the seventh on a Benjamin Cowles RBI single to left field.
  • Junior left-hander Tuck Tucker tossed a pair of scoreless innings. Right-hander Billy Phillips tossed a season-high three innings.

Other Stuff

  • AJ Lee and Justin Vought have both reached base in 11 consecutive games, tied for the team lead. Costes has reached base in eight straight, and has hits in seven straight, which is tops on the team.
  • There was a bird's nest found in the Bob "Turtle" Smith Stadium during play, which contained an obviously cute baby bird. The bird has not been named and we will accept any suggestions from #TerpNation.
