COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Maryland soccer head coach Sasho Cirovski announced the addition of Casey Beyers to the Terps coaching staff as a volunteer assistant coach for the upcoming 2019 season. Beyers will work as the primary goalkeeping coach for the Terps.
"I am excited to have Casey join our staff," Cirovski said. "He is a local young man with terrific goalkeeping experience with Wisconsin in the Big Ten and at the professional level. His primary responsibility will be to work with our young and talented goalkeepers. His enthusiasm and professionalism are a perfect fit with the rest of our staff."
Beyers, a Maryland native, played four years of college soccer as a goalkeeper for the University of Wisconsin between 2013 and 2016, earning Academic All-Big Ten honors in 2014.
"I am extremely thankful for the opportunity Coach Cirovski and the rest of the staff has given me," Beyers said. "I'm ready to start working with the great group of keepers we have here. Growing up in Maryland, I am very familiar with the program's history and success and I'm excited to be part of the team. I hope to use my experiences both professionally and collegiately to help our student-athletes grow both as athletes and as people. I've got some big shoes to fill after the great job Jake Pace did coaching the goalkeepers last season."
Beyers went on to play professionally following graduation, signing with the Orange County Soccer Club in the United Soccer League in 2017, and recently played for FC Baltimore Christos in the National Premier Soccer League, before joining the Terps for the 2019 season.
Beyers graduated with a bachelor's degree from Wisconsin in electrical engineering.
