
Terps Top Preseason United Soccer Coaches Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – United Soccer Coaches has ranked the Maryland men's soccer team No. 1 in the nation in the organizations first preseason poll, released Tuesday night.
The Terrapins are coming off their fourth national championship in program history in 2018. The Terps return five starters from their title winning squad, including Big Ten All-Freshman team selection sophomore William James Herve and College Cup All-Tournament selections senior Eli Crognale and junior Ben Di Rosa.
Starting center back Johannes Bergmann and four-goal scorer Paul Bin also will be back for their senior campaigns.The Terps outfit also features a number of key reserves from the national title run, including Eric Matzelevich, Justin Gielen, Matt Di Rosa and Brett St. Martin. Sophomore Brayan Padilla, Maryland's most highly touted a freshman a year ago, is now fully healthy for the 2019 season.
Maryland also adds a talented incoming class to the equation in 2019. Information on those student-athletes can be found here and here.
The Terps will once again play one of the best schedules in the country, with all three sides from last year's College Cup appearing on the slate. The Terps will host No. 3 Akron on Sept. 13 in a rematch of the national title game and host No. 2 Indiana in a rematch of the national semifinal on Oct. 18. The full schedule can be found here.
