Freshman Joy Callwood and junior Zoe Kularni began the day strong in the semi-finals of the Crab Cakes and Football doubles flight, but eventually fell to Richmond 6-3. The pair will continue play on Sunday against Towson. 
 
Seniors Saya Usui and Kate Yemelyanenka continued their doubles play in the Old Bay flight, fighting back from 1-3 down to beat Loyola 6-4. 
 
Junior Amber Policare and sophomore Chloe Hamlin put in for a well-fought 7-6(4) victory over Richmond to round out the morning doubles for the Terps. 
 
Callwood started singles play for the Terps picking up another win 6-2, 6-0 against Loyola's Jenna Granato in the second round of the U.S. Open flight. Kulkarni followed suit with a 6-0, 6-3 victory against Towson's Jessica Assenmacher, but fell in a tough three set match in the semi-finals against George Washington's Luciana Kunkel.  Callwood and Kulkarni then both fell in the semi-finals, but will each be back in action on Sunday to compete for third place.
 
Hamlin dropped a tight second round match against Georgetown's Agata Mikos, but bounced back to pick up her first singles win as a Terp against Richmond's Kiana Marshall 7-6(3), 6-4.
 
Yemelyanenka and Policare both battled hard in their respective quarterfinals rounds, but each fell in tough three-setters.  The two both then bounced back in their second singles matches of the day, with Yemelyanenka victorious in a 6-1, 4-6, 10-4 battle against Towson's Jessica Assenmacher. 
 
Junior Eva Alexandrova had an excellent day for the Terps, first advancing with a victory over Virginia Commonwealth's Kanako Yano, then pushed through a 7-5, 7-5 battle against Richmond's Emily Dunbar. Alexandrova will compete in the final championship round, to be played Sunday at the JTCC.
