North, Anderson Finish Top-3 at F&M Open

LANCASTER, Pa. -- Michael North finished as the runner-up at 157 pounds and Orion Anderson placed third at 133 pounds in the Terps' first competition of 2020 on Saturday at the Franklin & Marshall Open in Lancaster, Pa.
North made a dominant run in the 157 pound championship bracket, pinning Matthew Recher in just 1:47 in his first bout of the day, earning a 9-7 decision over Sam Martino of Virginia, and getting an even quicker pin (0:56) of Jonathan Ross en route to the title bout. North dropped a 14-4 major decidion to Hunter Ladnier of Harvard in the first-place match to earn the Terps' best finish of the day.
Orion Anderson used two consecutive major decision victories to open his day at 133 pounds, earning a 19-7 major decision over F&M's Mike Simonetti and a 12-3 major decision over Dillon Murphy of Harvard before dropping into consolation after dropping a 17-8 major decision to Virginia's Sam Book. Anderson clinched third place as Darby Diedrich of Brown medically forfeited.
The Terps will be back in action at the Virginia Duals next weekend from Jan. 10-11 in Hampton, Va., before getting into Big Ten dual competition. For full results from the F&M Open, see below.
