Get to Know: Sophi Wrisk

The Maryland women's lacrosse program welcomes seven new players to the fold as part of its 2020 freshman class as the Terps work towards their 2021 season. Over the next several weeks, umterps.com will get to know each of the seven newcomers. This week for our final Get to Know, we meet Sophi Wrisk.
Wrisk hails from Catonsville, Maryland playing her high school lacrosse at Catonsville High School. The midfielder was the No. 16 ranked recruit in the 2020 class by Inside Lacrosse and was an Under Armour All-American. Wrisk tallied 89 goals, 58 assists and 147 points and 58 draw controls over her sophomore and junior seasons and was named the Catonsville Times 2019 and 2020 Female Athlete of the Year, while also starring in volleyball and basketball.

Why did you choose Maryland?
I chose Maryland because I knew this school would give me the opportunity to grow academically and physically. Also, Maryland lacrosse is giving me the chance to play with some of the best players in the country and be a part of a forever family.
What is your favorite lacrosse memory?
Playing with my Nation United team as well as playing at the USA headquarters with my high school team for counties.
What Maryland lacrosse player did you look up to growing up?
Kristen Lamon, Zoe Stukenberg and Caroline Steele
What is a fun fact not many people know about you?
I played lacrosse on the six nations reservation in Canada in 6th grade.
