
Cayden Reese Headlines Six Maryland Freshmen in ILWomen Top 100

COLLEGE PARK, MD — Six incoming Maryland freshmen were named to the IL Women Freshman Top 100 rankings, which represent the final rankings for the high school Class of 2026 as they arrive on college campuses this fall.
Cayden Reese retained her spot as the No. 1-ranked player in the class, a position she has held throughout the recruiting cycle. Reese headlines a talented Maryland class and will play for her mother, head coach Cathy Reese, in College Park. Her future Maryland and longtime club teammate, Kit Laake, checks in at No. 3 in the rankings.
Reese capped an impressive high school career by leading Maryvale to the Q-Collar Girls National No. 1 Ranking. She totaled 60 goals, 35 assists and 40 draw controls while also earning Senior All-America Game recognition.
Maryland boasts three incoming freshmen ranked among the Top 20, with Michaela Fay, a defender from Suffern, N.Y., moving up from the watch list to No. 19.
Toby Bergstrom, a defender, was ranked No. 37, while midfielder Sofia Gagliardi and goalie Ashley Egbert were selected to the watch list.
Maryland and Notre Dame each have six players represented in the Top 100, trailing only Florida and North Carolina with nine apiece and Boston College and Michigan with seven each.
The ILWomen Freshman Rankings feature 100 student-athletes, with players ranked Nos. 1-50 and an additional 50 players named to the watch list. The Class of 2026 also features 40 five-star prospects.
