COLLEGE PARK, Md. - After a thrilling 45-44 overtime win over Minnesota, the Maryland football team will travel to Penn State this Saturday, November 7 to face the Nittany Lions. The game is set for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff to air on the Big Ten Network and the Maryland Sports Radio Network.
WEEK THREE STORYLINES
TAULIA TERRIFIC
- QB Taulia Tagovailoa had a sensational game vs. Minnesota (10/30), completing 26-of-35 passes for 394 yards and three passing touchdowns while rushing for 59 yards and another two touchdowns, including the game-winning score in overtime.
- Tagovailoa is only the third Big Ten player in the last 20 seasons with 350 passing yards, three passing touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns in a game, joining Dwayne Haskins (Ohio State, 2018) and Zak Kustok (Northwestern, 2001).
- The sophomore quarterback was named the Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week this week for his performance.

- RB Jake Funk broke out in the Terps win over Minnesota (10/30), rushing for 221 yards, the 11th-most in a single game in program history and the most since Anthony McFarland Jr. had 298 vs. Ohio State (11/17/18).
- Funk averaged 10.5 yards per carry, also the 11th-best in a single game all-time by a Terp.
YOUTH SURGE

The Terps have the 11th youngest team in the country and the youngest in the Big Ten by percentage of underclassmen on the roster, with 63.6 percent of the 118 student-athletes being freshmen or sophomores (46 true/redshirt freshmen, 29 sophomores).
Maryland has started two true freshmen in the first two games of the season, with WR Rakim Jarrett starting on the offensive end and tallying seven receptions for 69 yards and CB Tarheeb Still starting on the defensive end, posting nine tackles and two pass breakups. It is the first time the Terps have started two true freshmen in the first two games of a season since K Brad Craddock, QB Perry Hills and S Sean Davis started the first two contests of 2012 (William & Mary & Temple).
The Terps have had 20 players and 10 true freshmen see the first action of their careers over the first two games of the season.
JUCO transfers Johari Branch, Ami Finau, Mosiah Nasili-Kite have all started both games for Maryland.
Campbell Tackles
- LB Chance Campbell currently leads the FBS with 14 tackles per game and stands second in the FBS and leads the Big Ten with 7.5 solo tackles per game, posting a career-best 15 (10 solo) at Northwestern (10/24) and following it up with a team-high 13 in the win over Minnesota (10/30).
- Campbell's 28 tackles are the most by any Terp over a two-game span since Cole Farrand also had 28 vs. Michigan State (11/15) and Michigan (11/22) in 2014.
COMeback Kids
- Maryland's 17-point comeback in the fourth quarter vs. Minnesota (10/30) was the fourth-largest comeback in any Big Ten conference game since 2004 (Illinois 21-point deficit vs. Michigan State in 2019, Michigan State 21-point deficit vs. Northwestern in 2006, Rutgers 21-point deficit vs. Indiana in 2015).
