Gearhart, Morris Take Home First Place Titles at Nebraska

LINCOLN, Ne. — The Maryland track and field team took home two first place podium finishes at the University of Nebraska's Frank Sevigne Husker Invite Friday.
Senior Kathryn Gearhart paced her way to a first place title in her indoor 5000m debut (17:34.45), leading the race the entire way. Dashawn Morris also took home first in the 400m (47.26).
Women:
Nadia Hackett attacked the 60m hurdles, with a first place win in her heat (8.56), enough to auto-qualify for finals. Finals will be held at 3:10p.m. ET Saturday.
In the 60m dash, Bria Mack crossed the line in 7.60, shaving off .12 seconds from her previous season best. Jaida Smith continued to dash across the line in the 60m, finishing in 7.69.
The Terps' squad of 400m runners kept the momentum going in the last race of the day for Maryland. Each Terp set a season best time; Cheyenne Jones (55.95), Xahria Santiago (56.01), Venida Fagan (56.99) and Imani Gray (58.21).
Men:
Kameron Jones placed second in his heat in the 400m dash (48.14). Jones is set to compete in the 800m dash Saturday at 2:05p.m. ET.
Caleb Dean shifted from the 60m hurdles and competed in the 60m dash, crossing the line in 6.95. Joe Ewan continued his 60m dash run with a 6.94 finish.
Maryland football defensive back Nick Cross made his track and field debut in the 60m dash with a 6.93 finish.
