Griffin, McSally Power #10 Terps Past Hofstra, 16-11

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Brindi Griffin tallied five goals, Libby May scored four, and Maddie McSally notched a career-high 16 saves to lead the No. 10 Maryland women's lacrosse team past Hofstra, 16-11.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
  • No. 10 Maryland won its second-straight game to improve to 3-3 on the season.
  • The Terps led 9-3 at halftime behind four first half goals from Brindi Griffin and nine saves from Maddie McSally. 
  • Down 2-1, Maryland went on an 8-0 run that spanned 21 minutes in the first half, started out by four straight goals from B. Griffin. Kate Sites and Hannah Warther each had the other two goals. McSally had seven saves over that 8-0 run to fuel the defense. 
  • B. Griffin's five goals are the most by any Terp this season.
  • McSally's 16 saves are also the most in a game this year and the most by a Terrapin goalie since Megan Taylor  also had 16 vs. Northwestern on May 7, 2017. 
  • The Terps improve to 9-0 all-time against Hofstra.
INDIVIDUAL HIGHLIGHTS
  • Kali Hartshorn recorded her 200th career point with an assist in the first half. Maryland's point leader this year with 20 (10 goals, 10 assists), Hartshorn now has 154 goals and 47 assists on her career.
  • Over her last three games, McSally has 40 saves and only 28 goals allowed, a .588 save percentage. 
  • Libby May scored three-straight goals over a span of 2:19 in the second half to give her a career-best four on the afternoon.
  • Grace Griffin was a force all over the field, tallying a career-best six groundballs, nearly one-third of all of the Terps groundballs. Griffin also had two caused turnovers and an assist.
  • Emma Schettig notched seven draw controls for the second straight game for the Terps. The freshman now has 16 on the season and 14 in the past two.
  • Hannah Warther had a hat-trick for the second straight game.
