WASHINGTON D.C. – The Maryland Gymnastics team earned third place at the George Washington Invite meet with a final score of 195.300. Three gymnasts earned season-highs across all events.

New Heights

• Fr. Emma Silberman earned a career-high on vault with a 9.875 landing her first on podium.

• Sr. Tiara Wright landed first on podium for her 9.950 bar routine. 

• Fr. Aleka Tsiknias landed third on podium for her 9.900 bar routine.

• Sr. Tiara Wright landed third on podium for her 9.850 beam routine.

• Fr. Aleka Tsiknias and Sr. Tiara Wright each matched their career-high of 9.900 and 9.950, respectively. Silberman earned a career-high of 9.875 on bars. 

• Sr. Alecia Farina earned a season-high of 9.875 on bars.

• Sr. Tiara Wright matched her career-high of 9.850 on beam 

Coach's Comments

• "We had a lot going on this week and I don't want to make excuses but I am so proud of how tough this team is. We had a meet two days ago kids got banged up at that meet and several sick today. They are just warriors"

• "Obviously we are never happy if we aren't first, or in the 196 range, or both, but we really have to take a minute to realize how well we did under the circumstances." 

• "Anytime we come up against adversity they have this ability to step their game up. They came out of floor frustrated and they really attacked vault and bars so I was very pleased with the way they responded."
