COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The Maryland women's basketball team will welcome graduate transfer Katie Benzan, a 5-6 guard from Harvard, and transfer Chloe Bibby, a 6-1 forward from Mississippi State, to the roster for the 2020-21 season, head coach
Brenda Frese announced Wednesday.

Katie Benzan, who will be eligible immediately, comes to College Park after playing three seasons at Harvard, where she was a three-time First Team All-Ivy League honoree.
In her three seasons with the Crimson, Benzan averaged 13.7 points per game with 3.3 rebounds, 4.1 assists and played over 34 minutes per game. She notched career highs of 27 points at Quinnipiac and 10 assists at No. 14 California. Benzan played at Harvard for the 2017, 2018, 2019 seasons and sat out this past year. She will graduate this May with her degree in psychology.
Frese on Benzan: "We are thrilled to welcome Katie and her family into our Maryland family. Katie is a proven winner and possesses all the leadership qualities you would want on your team. She will bring a tremendous amount of experience and maturity to our team and will be able to play immediately as a graduate transfer. She is extremely versatile in her skill set with her ability to knock down an open three and she can utilize her basketball IQ to make a play for her teammates, can rebound and get to the free throw line. She will be an incredible addition to our team."

CHLOE BIBBY
Guard/Forward • 6-1
Warracknabeal, Australia • Mississippi State
Chloe Bibby, a native of Warracknabeal, Australia, played in 88 career games for the Bulldogs and averaged 9.1 points and 4.8 boards per game over the last two seasons. She earned preseason All-SEC honors prior to the 2019-20 season.
Bibby started in all 18 games of the 2018-19 season, before suffering an ACL tear. Prior to that, she scored in double figures in 14 games, and averaged 11.9 points, 4.1 boards and shot 45 percent from outside the arc (36-of-80).
Frese on Bibby: "Chloe is another proven winner that will bring a ton of intangibles to our program. Her experience in the SEC and internationally will be invaluable to our young team. At 6-1, Chloe is a very versatile player that can play inside and out. She can shoot the three and will be another strong rebounder for us. Hailing all the way from Australia we are thrilled to welcome Chloe and her family into our Maryland family. The future is so bright."
Bibby on Maryland: "I'm so excited to begin this new adventure at the University of Maryland. Bibby and Benzan will come to College Park along with
Angel Reese, the No. 2 overall recruit in the freshman class nationally.
