Starting out senior year with a bang, Bridget Hawvermale (now Russell) hit a grand slam against JMU, making her mark on the Maryland Softball program. The former Terp also saw over 25 starts and 65 appearances in her time at Maryland, and managed to get the first hit of the season against No. 13 Stanford her junior year.
"My time at Maryland was crazy busy - I joke that I never slept! Majoring in Engineering and playing softball was challenging but incredibly rewarding. My time at Maryland taught me discipline both in the classroom and on the field and that has carried on throughout my personal life."
She now works as a Quality Engineer within new product development at Cell, Inc. located in Columbia, Maryland. ACell, Inc. is a leading regenerative medicine company focused on the development, manufacturing, and commercialization of medical devices for wound management and surgical soft tissue repair.
"When I am not working, I spend my time gardening, cooking and hosting friends over for drinks."
Hawvermale currently resides in Frederick, Maryland, with her husband Kevin. She also serves as Vice President and Treasurer of the Frederick Terps Regional Alumni Association Network and the softball representative on the MClub Board. Staying connected to the university is important to Hawvermale and her husband, as they met in an engineering class and later got married at the UMD Memorial Chapel. The pair enjoy traveling in their spare time, and had a trip planned to Spain in the spring.
