2020-21 STORYLINES
Year Two for coach clemsen
- Head Coach Alex Clemsen returns as the leader of the wrestling team with a year of head coaching experience under his belt. The Missouri native led the Terps to dual wins over Southern Virginia and Fresno State in his inaugural season while also playing a key role in the development of 2019 NCAA qualifiers Jahi Jones and Philip Spadafora.

- The Terrapins head into the second week of the 2020-21 season with five wrestlers ranked nationally at their respective weight classes. Danny Bertoni (141; #29), Michael North (149; #29), Jonathan Spadafora (165; #33), Philip Spadafora (174; #21), and Jaron Smith (197; #30) stay ranked heading into the weekend, rankings courtesy of The Open Mat.
coach clemsen's recruits rolling in
- Maryland bolstered its lineup by bringing in a 10-man recruiting class. Joining the Terps in Coach Clemsen's first recruiting cycle were Maximus Bentley, William Berkowitz, Jackson Cockrell, Dainon Kappes, Garrett Kappes, Cole McCormick, Adam Pfeiffer, Nathan Porter, Jack Prendergast and Dominic Solis.
- Jackson Cockrell, a true freshman, competed in Maryland's lineup for the first dual of the season vs. No. 3 Michigan. Cockrell wrestled at 133 pounds but lost to #13 Jack Medley in his collegiate debut. Dainon Kappes also competed in one of the extra countable matches following Sunday's dual vs. Michigan.
