ROSEMONT, Ill.  -- University of Maryland senior volleyball player Erika Pritchard has been named a 2020-21 preseason All-Big Ten honoree, the conference announced Wednesday. In fall 2019, Pritchard became Maryland's first preseason All-Big Ten selection since joining the conference in 2014. She collects the second preseason conference honor of her career and remains the only Terp in program history to garner Big Ten preseason honors.

Pritchard, a native of Middletown, Maryland, returns from a successful junior season in which she led the team with 417 kills (3.28/set), ranked third on the team with 30 aces (0.24/set), and ranked second on the team with 428 digs (1.95/set). Pritchard also tallied double-digit kills in 27 of 32 matches in 2019 as well as posting 20 or more kills in three matches.

"I'm thrilled Erika received this preseason honor," said Head Coach Adam Hughes. "It's great recognition from the Big Ten coaches who recognize exceptional talent and we're excited about what she will bring to the team with her skill and leadership in this unique spring season."

Maryland opens the season Jan. 22 in Columbus, Ohio as the volleyball team takes on Ohio State. Maryland's home opener against Minnesota is slated for 8:30 p.m. on Friday, January 29. While in person attendance in the XFINITY Center Pavilion will not be permitted, the match will be broadcast nationally on the Big Ten Network.
