Four Terps Win at Nebraska Tri-Meet

LINCOLN, Neb. – The University of Maryland wrestling team dropped both dual matches with #25 Northwestern and #7 Nebraska in its second tri-meet of the season on Saturday afternoon at the Devaney Center.
What You Need To Know
- Danny Bertoni picked up his first win of the year with a 5-2 decision over Northwestern's Frankie Tal Shahar. Bertoni got Maryland on the board and sparked a stretch where the Terps won three of four matches.
- Michael Doetsch won in his season debut, earning a 3-2 decision over Northwestern's Maxx Mayfield.
- Jonathan Spadafora earned the first win of his season and his first win in the dual lineup. Even more impressive, it was also his first bonus point victory in the dual lineup. He earned an 11-3 major decision over Northwestern's David Ferrante.
- Kyle Cochran earned his second win of the year, an 8-0 major decision over Jon Halvorsen. Cochran improves to 2-3 on the season.
- Zach Spence made his debut in the dual lineup at 125 pounds, but dropped an 8-5 decision to Northwestern's Matt Vinci.
- Garrett Kappes made his collegiate debut at heavyweight in Maryland's first match of the day vs. Northwestern. He was edged by Jack Heyob, 2-1.

- Maryland returns to College Park after completing a two-week road swing. The Terps will face Ohio State on Sunday, Jan. 31 at 2:00 p.m. on the Big Ten Network.
