• Maryland split its matches last week. The Terrapins fell at No. 3 Rutgers, 1-0, Friday, then returned home to beat No. 17 Connecticut, 3-2, in College Park Sunday. Emma DeBerdine scored twice in Sunday's win and Taylor Mason added two assists. Belle Bressler added the Terps' other goal.
• Now in her 34th season, head coach Missy Meharg has earned a record of 600-154-9 (.792). She has more wins than any coach at Maryland in any sport. With 600 wins, she is the third DI coach to reach the mark.
• The Terrapins have a variety of weapons. Thirteen Terps have found the goal cage, led by Bibi Donraadt with eight goals and six assists this season. Hope Rose has six goals and Emma DeBerdine has five.
• The Terps return 18 letterwinners from their 2020-21 squad, including All-Americans Brooke DeBerdine and Riley Donnelly. The Terps welcome five newcomers - Carly Hynd, Paige Kieft, Kylee Niswonger and US National Team players Julianna Tornetta and Hope Rose.
• Senior Riley Donnelly, junior Emma DeBerdine and freshman Hope Rose won bronze with the US Under-21 Team in the Junior Pan American Cup in Santiago, Chile in August. Rose was named MVP of the event.
• The Terrapins went 8-7 in the 2020 season (played in the spring of 2021). The Terps closed the regular season with a series sweep of No. 6 Rutgers.

• Fifth-year seniors Brooke DeBerdine and Julianna Tornetta and freshman Hope Rose of the Maryland field hockey squad were named to the Big Ten's Players to Watch List.
• All three Terrapins were named to the US National Team roster this summer, along with former Terps Linnea Gonzales, Kelee Lepage and Carrie Hanks.
• DeBerdine, who earned NFHCA All-America honors this past spring, was voted team captain for the second straight season. She also earned First Team All-Big Ten honors this past spring.
• Tornetta, a graduate transfer from Princeton, and Rose are newcomers to the Terrapins' roster. Tornetta earned NFHCA All-America honors at Princeton in the 2019 and 2018 seasons. She helped the Tigers to back-to-back Final Four appearances and an appearance in the national title game. She tallied 18 goals and 33 assists in her career as a Tiger.
• Rose, an incoming freshman from Dauphin, Pa., earned MAX Field Hockey All-America honors. She scored 233 career goals in her high school career.

• Fifth-year seniors Brooke DeBerdine and Kyler Greenwalt of the Maryland field hockey squad were voted team captain and vice captain, respectively, by their teammates for the fall 2021 season.
• DeBerdine, who earned NFHCA All-America honors this past spring, served as the team's captain for the spring 2021 season.
• Greenwalt earned back-to-back Big Ten Sportsmanship Awards in the 2019 and 2020 seasons.
   

• Voted National Coach of the Year an unprecedented nine times, head coach Missy Meharg has exemplified the tradition of excellence Maryland field hockey has become known for, a program with eight National Championships, 18 Final Fours and 26 conference championships - solidifying the Terrapins' position among the top programs in the nation.
• Now in her 34th season, Meharg has earned a record of 600-154-9 (.792). She has more wins than any coach at Maryland in any sport.

• Maryland is ranked No. 8 in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches poll released Oct. 19. The Terrapins have been ranked in the top 5 in 193 of 237 polls, dating back to 1999 and every NFHCA Coaches poll, dating back to 1999.

• The Terps are 145-53-3 (.729) all-time against Big Ten opponents.
• Head coach Missy Meharg is 127-33-1 (.788) vs. Big Ten opponents in her 34 years at the helm of the Maryland field hockey program.
• Since joining the league in 2014, the Terps are 59-18 in conference play, including their 15 Big Ten Tournament games.
• The Terrapins are 52-8 (.867) vs. Big Ten teams at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex.

• Since its opening in 2003, the Terps are 198-25 (.888) all-time at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex.

• Michigan State is 7-5 overall and 0-5 in league play. The Spartans fell to Indiana, 5-0, and No. 6 Northwestern, 6-2, last weekend. Merel Hanssen is leading Michigan State with six goals this season.
• Maryland is 13-0 all-time vs. Michigan State. The Terps won their only meeting last season, 2-0, in Virginia Beach on Feb. 26, 2021.
• No. 2 Michigan is 12-1 overall and 4-1 in Big Ten play. The Wolverines fell to No. 1 Iowa, 2-1, in a shootout last weekend. Sofia Southam is leading the Wolverines and the Big Ten with 16 goals this season.
• Maryland is 19-5 all-time vs. Michigan. The Wolverines have won the last three straight matchups. They took both last spring, 2-1 and 2-0 on April 10 and 11 in College Park.
