Brooke DeBerdine of the Maryland field hockey squad was named the National Field Hockey Coaches Association's Mid Atlantic Regional Player of the Year Monday.

Last week, she was named to the All-Mid Atlantic Region First Team for the fourth time in her career.

DeBerdine started in 104 games in her Maryland career – more than any Terrapin in program history. She earned All-Big Ten First Team honors for the second straight season. She was also named to the NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship All-Tournament Team last week after leading the Te

DeBerdine, the Terps' team captain, was named to the Big Ten Players to Watch list and the 2021 NFHCA Senior All Star Game.

Maryland advanced to its 20
th Final Four as a program earlier this month, topping No. 13 Virginia and No. 10 Syracuse 2-1 in both games to advance. In their Final Four match, the Terps rallied from a 2-0 deficit but ultimately fell to Liberty, 3-2, in double overtime.
