COLLEGE PARK, MD — The Maryland volleyball team battled but fell to the No. 8 Purdue Boilermakers on Friday night, 3-1.
Sam Csire led the Terps in kills with 17 to go along with seven digs and three blocks.
Paula Neciporuka and
Rainelle Jones also filled up the stat sheet with 11 and nine kills apiece.
Milan Gomillion was formidable on the defensive end with a team-high 24 digs.
Sydney Dowler led the team in assists with 36.
Breaking Down The Action
- The first set was all Purdue as they used an 8-1 run to overpower the Terps 25-15.
- Maryland battled back in the second set but couldn't hold onto their lead and dropped a tight 25-23 set.
- The third set was another tight affair, with Maryland reeling off a 5-1 run at the end of the set to take a 25-22 win. After the match, graduate Kaylee Thomas would tell the media: "If we do anything we're going to fight down 2-0."
- The Terps and Boilermakers traded points for the majority of the fourth set with Csire notching six kills in the frame, but Maryland dropped the set in extra points, 27-25.
VS Cancer Night
- Friday night was the programs "VS Cancer Night" where they partnered with the foundation of the same name to raise funds helping research pediatric brain tumors.
