Nkwonta Takes Second in Shot Put; Sets Maryland Record

Geneva, Ohio – The Maryland women's indoor track and field team closed out the Big Ten Championships Saturday evening in Geneva, Ohio.
Senior Angel Nkwonta set the Maryland program record in the shot put, posting a personal-best mark of 17.27m (56-08.00). This is Nkwonta's second record-setting performance this season. She previously set the overall Maryland record in the weight throw.
Senior Bria Mack finished in eighth place in the women's 60m dash. Mack finished with a time of 7.58, just short of her personal-best and Maryland program-high 7.45s set on Friday in the preliminary race.

Women's Notes
- Senior Angel Nkwonta finished second in the shot put. She set a new Maryland program record at 17.27m (56-08.00).
- Bria Mack competed in the 60m dash finals where she placed eighth with a time of 7.58s.
- Freshman Madison Depry cleared a final mark of 1.69m (5-06.50). She finished 11th in her first Championships appearance.
- Sarah George and Kamryn Henderson competed in the shot put with George earning a final mark of 14.10m (46-03.25). Henderson finished with a mark of 13.73m (45-00.50).
- In the 4x400 relay, Nadia Hackett, Cheyenne Jones, Kami Joi Hickson and Mackenzie Morgan finished with a time of 3:52.84.
Coach's Comments
"We are leaving this weekend with two new school records in the books. This indoor season came with some new obstacles and challenges but our focus stayed constant to compete at a high level. My expectation is only to build this outdoor season with forward momentum."
