
Maryland Breaks Two Program Records at FAU Invitational

BOCA RATON, Fla. -- Maryland took home second place with senior Virunpat Olankitkunchai placing first in the FAU Invitational to open the 2021 spring season.
Olankitkunchai shot a 69 with six birdies in the first round Monday morning, followed by shooting two strokes better in the second round at 67. After shooting -3 at 69 for the third round, she sealed the deal for first place with a new under par program record of -11 with a final score of 205 (69, 67, 69).
Senior Laura Van Respaille also found success, finishing tied for third place with her score of 213 (73, 68, 72) after an impressive five birdies on the back nine of the second round.
As a team, Maryland finished second overall with a score of 859 (292, 278, 289) after setting a new program-record for their 18-hole score in the second round, falling just behind Michigan State's 858 (282, 288, 288).
Sophomore Maria Vittoria Corbi tied for 19th with her score of 220 (76, 72, 72). Senior Charlotte Lafourcade tied for 24th with a score of 222 (75, 71, 76), and senior Xiaolin Tian tied for 29th with her score of 223 (75, 72, 76).
Next up, Maryland will play in the Gator Invite Feb. 21-23 in Gainesville, Fla. Live stats will be available through Golfstat.
