Alaysia Styles scored 15 points off the bench to lead a balanced attack as seventh-ranked Maryland routed Northwestern 85-52 on Friday in the semifinals of the Big Ten Women's Basketball Tournament.

The top-seeded Terrapins (23-2) will face the winner sixth-seeded Iowa (18-8) in Saturday's championship game.

The Maryland bench held a 36-14 edge over Northwestern (15-8). Also cracking double figures for Maryland were Diamond Miller with 13 points, Ashley Owusu 12, and Faith Masonius 11. Mimi Collins and Angel Reese each had 10 points for the Terrapins and Reese had a team-high 11 rebounds.Â
"Really proud of this team," head coach Brenda Frese said. "What a fun way to play. We knew Northwestern was going to come in after yesterday's game, very inspired and motivated. I thought our group was just as motivated. We knew the last time we played Northwestern it probably wasn't our best game, so you saw a team that punched first and they never looked back.

"We had a little adversity there in the first quarter with Ashley getting in foul trouble. We were able to go to our bench and I thought we got stronger and better and we've got to be able to have that depth."

Maryland shot 59% from the field and held fifth-seeded Northwestern to 30%. Veronica Burton had 14 points and six assists for the Wildcats and Jordan Hamilton added 10 points. Â
Maryland used a 22-2 run, including 18 unanswered points, in the last 6:33 of the second quarter to take a 49-24 halftime advantage. The Terrapins made 9 of 11 shots in the second quarter while the Wildcats were 3 of 13 from the field.

The Terrapins' game-changing spurt came with leading scorer Owusu on the bench for the entire period. Owusu returned to score seven points in the third quarter as Maryland expanded its lead to 70-38 after three quarters.

Maryland advanced to its seventh straight Big Ten Tournament final since joining the league in the 2014-15 season. The Terrapins won the 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2020 Big Ten Tournament titles. Maryland is 18-2 all-time in the Big Ten Tournament.

Frese was named National Coach of the Year by ESPN Friday. Frese, now in her 19
th season at Maryland, was also voted Big Ten Coach of the Year by both her peers and the league's media panel the conference announced Monday.

The Big Ten Championship game will tip off at 2 p.m. ET Saturday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. The matchup will be televised on ESPNU.
