View From The Box

  • The Terps put together a complete performance to get three key Big Ten points, controlling the majority of play throughout the 90 minutes.
  • Maryland's back line held firm for virtually the entire match, limiting the Spartans to just four shots and a late goal in the final minute of play.
  • Maryland was the aggressor in first half, controlling the bulk of possession while registering five shots and holding the Spartans to none. The Terps managed to attempts on frame, but Morse was there to collect them and keep the game scoreless in the opening 45 minutes.
  • The Terrapins went right to work in the second half, driving the ball into Michigan State's 18-yard box where Bin drew a penalty in the 46th minute. The Seoul, South Korea slotted his attempt into the right side to the Terps ahead 1-0.
  • Thirty minutes later Bin would tally the eventual game-winner, taking a flick on header from Justin Harris into the box and powering it past MSU keeper Hunter Morse to give the Terps the 2-0 lead. Chris Rindov floated in the initial ball over the top that troubled the Michigan State back line.
  • Michigan State pressed late, forcing Maryland to play the majority of the final 10 minutes in their defensive third. Gianni Ferri would put away the lone goal for the Spartans, but it was too little too late as Maryland closed things out for the 2-1 victory.
  • Bin was tremendous outside of his two-goal performance. The senior captain was a menace to Michigan State on both sides of the ball and continues to round into form.
  • Senior Eric Matzelevich got his first extended run out this season after dealing with injuries. Ryan Blumberg made his Maryland debut.

From The Boss

"I'm delighted with our complete performance today. We started on the front foot and dictated the tempo throughout the first half. At halftime I told the guys that we just needed to reward ourselves. Within 30 seconds we had a nice combination and drew the penalty. I thought we justly deserved a second goal. Dissapointed about allowing the late goal, but otherwise an overall terrific performance."

From The Boys

"To be honest, I haven't taken many penalties, but I knew I had to take it. I had to step up and take on the responsibility. We haven't been the best on penalties. I knew if I got one I would take it. I stepped up and it went in the back of the net."
