The Breakdown: A fiery center forward, Matzelevich found his scoring boots in 2019, pacing Maryland with six goals en route to all-conference honors. The Washington D.C., native emerged as a key leader for the Terps with his relentless competitive nature and was a two-time captain during his Maryland career. 

As a Senior (2020): Academic All-Big Ten selection...team captain...dealt with injuy for the entire season but still played in seven games and started four...notched a goal on five shots. 

As a Junior (2019): Started all 21 matches for the Terps and played 1,506 minutes...served as a captain for Maryland...scored six goals to lead the Terps and tallied two assists...recorded 50 shot, 24 on goal...named second-team All-Big Ten...an Academic All-Big Ten selection...scored his first goal of the season at UCLA (9/6)...notched the winner against defending national runners up Akron (9/13)...notched a goal against Rutgers (10/2)...notched a goal against Indiana (10/18)...tallied an assist ag Ohio State (10/25)...scored a goal against Michigan (11/3)...notched a goal and an assist in a 4-0 win over Iona in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

As a Sophomore (2018): Played in 23 matches with five starts in Maryland's National Championship season...scored two goals and added three assists...an Academic All-Big Ten selection...started an played 54 minutes in the opener at Washington (8/24)...started and notched an assist at Northwestern (9/14)...started, played 82 minutes and notched an assist against Wisconsin (9/21)...scored the winning goal in a 2-0 win at Rutgers (9/26)...scored the game winning goal in overtime in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals at Michigan State (11/4)...came off the bench in all five of Maryland's NCAA Tournament matches...played 44 minutes in the College Cup semifinals against Indiana (12/7)...played 33 minutes in the College Cup final against Akron (12/9).

As a Freshman (2017): Played in 18 games and made one start...scored his first collegiate goal against Santa Clara (8/25)...scored against then-No. 15 UCLA (9/1) in front of 7,532 fans at Ludwig Field...made his first career start against Cal Poly (9/4)...notched an assist at UConn (10/2).

Before Maryland: Plays for DC United U-18 Youth Academy Team… spent junior year in England with U-18 Reading FC Youth Academy… played in U-17 U.S. Soccer Men’s National Team Northwest Tour… selected for 98/99 Academy Select game in 2013...ranked No. 14 by College Soccer News and No. 62 by Top Drawer Soccer.

Personal: Eric Matzelevich was born November 28, 1998… son of William and Alina… one brother, Nicholas… favorite sports hero is Robert Lewandowski… came to Maryland because of the coaching staff and environment to develop.
