
Bernhardt, Grill & McNaney Earn B1G Weekly Honors

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Attackman Jared Bernhardt, defenseman Nick Grill and goalie Logan McNaney were all named to the Big Ten Team of the Week Tuesday in a release made by the conference offices. The trio of Terps all played key roles for Maryland in the team's 13-7 win over then 13th-ranked Penn State on February 26. McNaney was also named to the USILA Team of the Week for this first time in his career.
Bernhardt starred for the now third-ranked Terrapins in the win, recording a game-high seven points on three goals and four assists while picking up two ground balls. Bernhardt's 2nd goal of the night was credited as the game-winner, while he also became just the sixth player in Maryland history to eclipse 200 career points. This is the third career Big Ten OPOW honor for Bernhardt.
Grill caused two turnovers and tied his career-high with six ground balls while helping anchor Maryland's defense in the team's six-goal victory over the Nittany Lions. The seven goals scored by Penn State its fewest in a game since March 10, 2018. Grill held Penn State's leading attackman Mac O'Keefe to just one goal on the night. It's the second straight week Grill has earned the honor after being named the B1G DPOW for the first time in his career on February 23.
McNaney made a career-high 16 saves in the victory, pushing his career record in the cage for the Terps to 4-0. The sophomore finished with a 69.6% save percentage, while he also caused two turnovers and picked up three ground balls. This is the second career Big Team weekly honor for McNaney, who was named the conference's Freshman of the Week last season on March 3.
Maryland will return to competition this Saturday, March 6 when the Terps host Johns Hopkins at Maryland Stadium. Faceoff is slated for 1 p.m.
