"Another top-three finish for our team just solidifies the strength of our lineup," head coach Diana Cantu said. "This team was consistent throughout all three rounds and it was so much fun watching them play together as a team. They were positive throughout several rain delays and long days. Despite the challenges, they motivated each other on every hole which really helped kepp the momentum we needed down the stretch."
Senior No. 20 Virunpat Olankitkunchai took home the silver for the Terps, scoring a 210 (71, 68, 71) over three rounds to finish six under par. She also notched an impressive four birdies in a row in the second round, and was fourth amongst all individuals with a total of 12 throughout the tournament.
"Virunpat had another successful tournament this weekend," Cantu said. "She is incredibly resilient on the course and converted tough up and downs as a result. I am so proud of her and excited to see what she can do in the rest of the season. I am so proud of her performance and leadership."
No. 93 Laura Van Respaille tied for seventh overall with her score of 214 (71, 73, 70), scoring 10 birdies across three rounds. "Laura added another top-10 finish to her resume, her ball striking is as good as it's ever been," Cantu reflected. "She gave herself lots of birdie chances and really caught fire in her third round. I have a lot of confidence she can keep building off of the past few tournaments and peak at the right time later this spring."
