TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Maryland Gymnastics edged the Eastern Michigan Eagles by a final score of 195.525-195.475 in the final moments of the meet.
Audrey Barber's anchor on beam gave the Terps a show-stopping 9.900 to win the meet.
Maryland will return tomorrow at 8 pm ET to face Oklahoma and Missouri in Day 2 of regional competition.

Beam:
- The beam's season-high 49.050 came in the final minutes and propelled the Terps to win the meet.
- Barber's 9.900 earned her first-place honors. The is Barber's season-high and matches her career-best.
- Senior Sabriyya Rouse, McClure and freshman Olivia Weir all tied for fourth place with 9.800s. This is Weir's career best.
Floor:
- Senior Collea Burgess led the way for Maryland with a 9.850. Burgess tied for first place overall.
- Barber earned a 9.825, giving her a third-place finish, followed by sophomore Sophia LeBlanc with a 9.800.

"I think we knew that it was going to be a full meet battle. We weren't concerned about the slow start, we knew that it was going to be a meet that you had to fight the entire thing. There was not going to be a moment where you would get a huge lead or anything like that so it never felt like it was gonna be, we had to prepare for like the long battle not not that short burst lead off start and I thought we were really ready for that and then you said what sparked what the finish."
