Russell is a 5-11, 165-pound graduate transfer who spent the last four seasons starring at point guard for Rhode Island where he became the program's all-time steals leader and was a First Team Atlantic 10 and All-Defensive Team selection. He was a senior at Imhotep Charter (Philadelphia) when current Terrapin, Donta Scott, was a sophomore.
Wahab is a 6-11, 235-pound forward who just completed his sophomore season at nearby Georgetown. Wahab exploded this past season, averaging 12.7 points and 8.2 rebounds while earning All-Big East Tournament Team accolades en route to the tournament title.
The addition of Russell and Wahab has propelled the Terrapins into a number of early national preseason rankings lists, including Stadium (5), ESPN (6), Jon Rothstein (7), March Madness (8), The Athletic (11) and CBS Sports (13).

The Terps loading up via the transfer portal and filling biggest two needs: Big Man (Qudus Wahab) and Point Guard (Fatts Russell) https://t.co/JdP78KH1Hb
I asked Mark Turgeon what he thought of Fatts Russell before Maryland played Rhode Island in 2019.
— Jacob Steinberg (@jacobstein23) April 3, 2021
It's pretty clear that Turgeon has admired Russell's game for a while.
Here was his full response: pic.twitter.com/shsmhNXulS
Fatts Russell cited relationships with multiple players as playing a big role in his decision to come to College Park. He called Mark Turgeon a "great coach."

"But I'm just trying to be a part of something special. That's the main thing," he said. https://t.co/mBAqYDHizq
This is akin to Mike Smith to Michigan this past season -- if not better. Fatts Russell to @TerrapinHoops gives them an immediate experienced lead guard to an already versatile perimeter. Catch him if you can. Extremely quick end to end. https://t.co/nYepdtjc0O

Maryland has added Georgetown transfer big man Qudus Wahab, per source.
— Jeff Goodman (@GoodmanHoops) April 3, 2021
HUGE pickup for the Terps. The 6-foot-11 Wahab averaged 12.7 points, 8.2 boards, 1.2 blocks per game this past year.
Maryland looking like more and more like a Preseason Top 10 team if Wiggins comes back.
Georgetown coach Patrick Ewing last month on new Maryland transfer Qudus Wahab: "To me, by the time he leaves here — whenever that is, hopefully it's two more years — he's going to be the best big in the country."
